Kidadl: Days Out

Overview

Kidadl is the best place to find free ideas for family fun and activity-based learning, whether you're staying at home or venturing out and about with kids. The company went through a rebrand, allowing it to shine through bold cheerful colours enhancing its target audience. As a product designer at Kidadl, my scope was to elevate the website whilst applying the new identity. This included their Days Out section, focused on travel, events and accommodation.

Family-tailored travel inspiration

The Days Out section makes it effortless for families to plan their trips by suggesting accommodation near the event or venue they are visiting, family-focused filters and straight-forward booking process.

For an optimal experience, this will be location-based (focusing solely on US & UK). In order to access the tailored content they are searching for, the user has to input their location, either country or city level. Days Out content has been divided in multiple subcategories tailored for parents and their children.

Events & Booking

The events pages not only display the essential information like date, time and location, but also a detailed summary with in-depth family guide. This would allow parents to make an informed decision wether the shows are suitable for their children or parenting style.

The booking process accounts for the filters entered in the search, simplifying the task for the users.

Accommodation

Similarly to the events, users could discover family-friendly hotels through the website. These listings would also include a detailed review of the establishment, focusing on the children facilities. Possible API integrations with Booking.com were explored to be used as part of the booking system.

The biggest challenge of this section on the website was by far the filtering system. Not only did this have to contain location and price range, but also the family-friendly features that make Kidadl unique (kids/baby ages, their family interests, and family types such as couples only or neurodivergent children).
